Testing for Radon

You don’t know unless you test.

Radon is an invisible and odourless gas. It is important to test for radon in your home as it is the only way of truly knowing how much of it is in your home. Your levels are unique to your home.

Long-term tests are crucial.

If you are testing your home, be sure to test for a minimum of three months. Any tests shorter than that can give you a false sense of security as the radon levels in your home fluctuate constantly. Health Canada says that your decision as to whether mitigate or not should never be based on a test under three months.

What are my testing options?

You can do it yourself or hire Budd Radon Services to test for you. Make sure to follow guidelines on where to place your test devices and to follow manufacturers’ protocols so that your test is accurate. The current Health Canada guideline for radon is 200bq/m3. If your home is above this level it is recommended you install a mitigation system. For the United States of America, the level is 148bq/m3. The World Health Organization suggests no levels above 100bq/m3 in your home. Hiring Budd Radon Services will ensure your test is done according to the Health Canada guidelines. You will receive a full report of your levels from the lab and we will provide you with recommendations based on your homes radon levels.
